ABOUT US
The DEJAVU® team is a group of dedicated professionals that includes award-winning artist researchers, art professors, art historians, computer scientists,
graphic designers, and business professionals working together to stop the spread of plagiarism and promote new technologies in cultural production.
HISTORY
DEJAVU® is the first plagiarism detection software for fine arts and went online in 2009. It employs distance calculations algorithms originating from
bioinformatics for matching human genome patterns, thus providing scientific measurements for a field where arbitrariness and the impossibility of proof used to
rule.
A group of artists researchers created DEJAVU®, encouraged by a high level of interest from their peers. The researchers teamed with a group of art professors,
art historians, computer scientists, graphic designers, and business professionals. The creation of the software has been very much inspired by
Plagiarism.org,
the world's first internet-based plagiarism detection service and their philosophy of building values and influencing behaviour through plagiarism detection software.
HOW DOES DEJAVUŽ WORK?
Artworks are electronically submitted by curators, gallerists and collectors subscribing to the service. They are then compared to an extensive 'proprietary database'
of Internet sites, art databases containing millions of works, as well as digitised versions of published works - and earlier submitted art works.
Within minutes, an is returned to the submitter, charting on its 'similarity index' the percentage of the art work derived from other sources,
and providing color-coded links to source material.
