During the 1968 street performance »Aus der Mappe der Hundigkeit« (From the Portfolio of Doggedness), the Austrian artist and founder of Feminist Actionism VALIE EXPORT took a walk down Kärntnerstraße in Vienna with her colleague and then partner Peter Weibel. The artist led Weibel on a leash as he crawled on all fours. According to the artist, the sexual dimension of the demonstrated control and dependency relationships triggered anxiety, irritation and aggression.
Cornelia Sollfrank repeated this demonstration of female control in July 2006 and led Monty Cantsin (multiple identity of Neoism) on a leash through the Phoenix shopping mall in Hamburg-Harburg.
